Graham Platner Responds to Allegations in First National Interview

Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner addressed recent allegations against him in a national media interview. Speaking on MS NOW’s “All In with Chris Hayes,” Platner denied claims made by ex-girlfriends in a New York Times report. The report included allegations of rape fantasies, heavy drinking, and violent behavior, such as an incident where Platner allegedly pulled an ex-girlfriend out of a taxi and into a bedroom.

Platner firmly stated these allegations were false. “No, it did not,” he responded when questioned about the incident. He insisted that the accusations were made by someone with political motives. Platner acknowledged past struggles with alcohol and relationship issues after returning from military service but denied any physical altercations.

“There are some allegations in this piece that I just want to be kind of unequivocal about are simply not true,” said Platner.

Platner also faces backlash for several other controversies. These include a tattoo resembling a Nazi symbol, controversial Reddit comments about a wounded soldier, and sending explicit messages to women while married. Platner’s wife, Amy Gertner, has publicly supported him, arguing that past issues do not define his current campaign.

In a previous statement, Platner’s campaign criticized one witness as a partisan GOP operative. Despite scandals, Platner continues his Senate bid with the support of his campaign team and wife.
