Graham Rahal is gearing up for a significant event, joining about two dozen drivers in the upcoming Freedom Grand Prix 250. The race takes place in Washington, D.C., and coincides with the United States’ 250th anniversary. At the IndyCar Grand Prix Media Preview, Rahal shared his thoughts on participating in this historic race.

“As an American, this is an iconic moment,” Rahal expressed. “This sport has a global aspect, especially in open-wheel racing and IndyCar. Racing in the U.S. capital, near Capitol Hill, and down Pennsylvania Ave. holds incredible significance. Growing up, these locations have tremendous value, emphasized by having the red, white, and blue on the car.”

Rahal anticipates an exciting race weekend. He eagerly awaits exploring the track, aiming to claim victory for himself and those supporting him, including military personnel he has collaborated with through the years.

He explained his enthusiasm, stating, “We’re excited. I can’t wait to experience the track completely, race, and go for the trophy.” Rahal has managed to keep his enthusiasm somewhat contained, despite his mounting excitement.

The weekend’s activities commence with the first practice session at 9 a.m. ET on Saturday, available live on FS1. A second practice session follows at 1 p.m. ET, with qualifying rounds starting at 5 p.m. ET on FS2.

On race day, Sunday, the drivers are scheduled for warm-ups from 9 a.m. ET, with the main event beginning at 1 p.m. ET. The warm-up session will air on FS1, and the race will broadcast on FOX.

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix marks the first NTT IndyCar Series street race passing National Mall landmarks, commemorating America’s milestone anniversary. Final preparations are underway, ensuring a spectacular inaugural race in Washington, D.C.
