Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to visit Nottingham today for their first joint charity appearances in England since returning from America in August. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are returning to the city where Meghan conducted her first royal engagements in December 2017, shortly after their engagement.
Why the Visit Is Significant
In Britain, there’s considerable discussion about whether their activities will mirror those of official royals, potentially challenging the monarchy. Harry and Meghan are considered “private citizens” rather than working royals, as per a letter from King Charles III in September.
The Community Recording Studio (CRS)
Harry and Meghan’s first visit will be to The Community Recording Studio (CRS), established in 1991. This charity provides young people with access to film, video, and music production equipment and training. CRS’s mission remains unchanged since its inception: to help young people develop skills and gain employment. It distinguished itself by offering free studio time, accessible to youths from disadvantaged areas.
Prince Harry last visited in September 2025, emphasizing the charity’s role in combating community violence. “Nottingham has been a place where I’ve heard harrowing stories, learned important lessons, seen resilience, and felt truly inspired,” Harry commented. Unfortunately, challenges like knife crime persist, affecting young lives and cutting futures short.
Hubb Community Kitchen
Meghan and Harry will also visit the Himmah food bank to meet volunteers from the Hubb Community Kitchen. These volunteers cooked for survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire in June 2017, which resulted in 72 fatalities. Meghan collaborated with the kitchen’s women to produce “Together: Our Community Cookbook,” with proceeds benefiting the charity.
In her foreword, Meghan reflected on her connection to the community: “An apron was quickly wrapped around me, I pushed up my sleeves and I found myself washing the rice for lunch… The aromas percolating in a kitchen filled with countless languages aflutter remains one of my most treasured memories from my first visit.” The kitchen fosters a sense of normalcy through shared cooking experiences in times of crisis or joy.
In 2022, the group revealed that Meghan sent a voice message on the fifth anniversary of the Grenfell tragedy, inquiring about their well-being and sharing family news.
Visit to Epic Partners
The couple’s final publicized stop is Epic Partners, which supports young people through clubs, activities, and holiday camps. Harry began collaborating with Epic Partners in 2013, and Meghan met its members during their 2017 Nottingham visit.
Epic Partners aims to empower positive change for children and young people in Nottingham’s communities. The charity offers inclusive sports, youth, and mentoring programs addressing challenges like Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and social exclusion. Through safe spaces, supportive adult relationships, and positive activities, the organization helps youth build confidence, develop life skills, and make informed choices.
