Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, a YouTube personality known for his far-left views, recently addressed questions about his lifestyle and political beliefs during a podcast interview. He was asked about his $2.7 million California home and his experiences at Oscar parties after expressing on the podcast that he aspired to be a ‘champagne socialist.’

Piker joined comedian Ziwe on her show, noted for its satirical interviews that often involve uncomfortable questions. When asked if he always wanted to be a champagne socialist, Piker confirmed, “Yes.”

During the interview, Ziwe referenced a past statement from Piker, “Let the streets soak in red capitalist blood,” and asked about his time at Oscar parties this year. Piker shared his experience, noting that meeting Jeff Bezos was peculiar and added that he was surprised by Bezos’ stature.

Piker attended Vanity Fair’s Oscar party and commented on evading Bezos’ attention, citing Bezos’ influence over many attendees. Piker brings both positive and critical attention to Twitch, expressing a desire for anonymity concerning Bezos.

Ziwe’s interview also explored Piker’s living situation. She pointed out the discrepancy between Marxist principles and Piker’s $2.7 million home. Piker clarified that he financed the house through a mortgage rather than outright cash payment. He reiterated his advocacy for free housing but acknowledged the irony surrounding his situation.

Despite the contradictions, Piker said he works within a cooperative corporation emphasizing equal pay and say and refrains from running ads, only resorting to this during past contracts with Amazon. He strives for ethical standards in his business dealings, notably working with American-made and union-made garment producers for merchandise.

Christian Toto, editor of Hollywood In Toto, critiqued Ziwe for not challenging Piker enough during the interview. However, Toto praised her for spotlighting the contradiction between Piker’s wealth and his public statements more effectively than most journalists.

Piker has actively participated in political campaigns, supporting Democratic candidates in the November midterms. In media appearances, he has controversially likened U.S. actions to those of al-Qaeda, claiming the U.S. has caused significant global terror.
