The Shift of Simmering Heat
The summer heat that has baked the central United States is shifting into the Northeast. This could transform a comfortable week along the East Coast into an unpleasant one.
Bryan Ramsey, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in New York, commented on the upcoming weather. While he didn’t describe it as 100-degree heat, he noted it as uncomfortable, even sweltering.
Mr. Ramsey, who grew up in Houston before relocating to New York, highlighted the discomfort expected on Thursday and Friday. A thick air mass following a warm front is causing people to feel sticky and damp, which prevents natural cooling of the body.
Intensified Heat Experience
This second week of June is a prime time for the year’s first true warm spell. The setup mirrors unseasonable 90-degree days in mid-April. However, this time there is a heavier dose of tropical moisture, intensifying the discomfort.
Potential Storms
High temperatures across much of the East Coast are expected to hover between 90 and 95 degrees. Bob Oravec, a senior forecaster at the federal Weather Prediction Center, mentioned that some temperatures are near record values. Although it’s not extreme heat, caution is advised.
