Jewish Residents in New York Express Concerns Over Rising Antisemitism

4 weeks ago 0

Jewish residents in New York are expressing concerns about an increase in antisemitic and anti-Israel violence. This unease is partly attributed to actions by Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who is perceived as distancing the city from Israel.

One of the affected residents, Hila Ashkenazi, owns a bagel shop in eastern Queens. For 25 years, Ashkenazi has displayed both Israeli and American flags at her business. During much of this period, she felt that her neighborhood appreciated her establishment and respected its Jewish heritage. However, recent developments have led to feelings of insecurity among the local Jewish community.

On May 11, supporters of Israel gathered outside a synagogue in Brooklyn, illustrating the increasing tensions and the need for a show of solidarity among residents.
