Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel announced a two-month hiatus from his ABC show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”. Guest hosts will fill in, beginning the week of July 6. The line-up includes Tiffany Haddish, Anthony Anderson, Ike Barinholtz, Colman Domingo, and Jelly Roll, as reported by ABC.
Rosie O’Donnell, known for her comedic sparring with Donald Trump, is among the guest hosts. Kimmel jokingly requested her presence to keep the entertainment going for the President. He also quipped about taking a voluntary break, referencing his past suspension.
In the previous year, the show was briefly suspended after Kimmel criticized Republican responses to conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s death. The remarks led to strong reactions from Republican figures and the FCC. The suspension caused public debates about free speech, prompting protests at Disney studios and ABC headquarters.
Upon returning, Kimmel addressed the controversy emotionally, stressing he did not intend to mock Kirk’s death. The return episode attracted over 6 million viewers. In his monologue, Kimmel emphasized the importance of free speech, noting the value of living in a country that allows open expression through shows like his.
