Kremlin Expects Diminishing Western Support for Ukraine Amid U.S.-Russia Alignment

2 hours ago 0

Russian government figures are openly expressing their confidence that backing for Ukraine from Western countries is waning. This sentiment arises as recent actions by U.S. President Donald Trump appear to indicate a strengthening bond between the United States and Russia.

On August 15, 2025, during a news conference held in Anchorage, President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly acknowledged this growing alliance through a handshake. This meeting marks a strategic shift in the international landscape, suggesting changes in the level of support Ukraine receives from its Western allies.

Russian officials view Trump’s policies towards Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a significant victory. Combined with political instability within Europe, they interpret these developments as signals that the unity and support from Western nations towards Ukraine are starting to weaken.
