1 hour ago 0

Venezuela and Israel Re-establish Diplomatic Relations

Venezuela has reopened consular ties with Israel after a 17-year hiatus. Previously aligned with Iran, Venezuela has taken steps like removing highly enriched uranium and capturing a Hezbollah terrorist. The Israeli Defense Forces have also provided assistance following recent earthquakes.

Bolivia’s Diplomatic Shift

Bolivia’s new government has renewed diplomatic relations with Israel, terminated a military cooperation pact with Iran, and halted border security exchanges. It also revoked its participation in a genocide lawsuit against Israel and eliminated the visa requirement for Israelis.

Colombia’s Pro-Israel Stance

President Abelardo de la Espriella of Colombia has restored relations with Israel, moved the Colombian embassy to Jerusalem, and recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Colombia has also withdrawn from the genocide lawsuit.

Honduras Changes Course

Honduras has reversed its stance, returning its ambassador to Jerusalem and signing a defense and security pact with Israel. It previously supported Palestine, even joining a lawsuit against Israel.

Costa Rica’s Trade Agreement

Costa Rica has announced a free trade agreement with Israel and is relocating its embassy to Jerusalem. It has labeled Iran’s proxy armies and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as terrorist organizations.

Dominican Republic and Peru’s Moves

Both Dominican Republic and Peru have strengthened ties with Israel. Dominican Republic designated Hezbollah and others as terrorists while Peru’s army acquired $60 million worth of Israeli-made PULS rocket launchers.

Chile’s Renewed Commitment

Chile, under President José Antonio Kast, now has active diplomatic relations with Israel. They are exploring cooperation in science, technology, and aerospace development.

Argentina and Ecuador’s Actions

Argentina expelled Iran’s top diplomat and signed the Isaac Accords with Israel. Ecuador has designated Hamas, Hezbollah, and the IRGC as terrorist organizations, capturing a Hezbollah member and deporting an Iranian national.

The new Monroe Doctrine has created an opportunity for Israel to establish deeper relationships with Latin America. Israel can leverage its strengths in technology, agriculture, education, and security to ensure lasting ties.

Arturo McFields, exiled journalist and former ambassador, emphasizes the significance of these developments for Israel.
