Manhunt for Suspect in Cross-State Crime Spree with Arrowhead Stadium Connection

3 days ago 0

A 22-year-old suspect is at the center of a multi-agency manhunt for a series of violent crimes across states, including highway shootings near Arrowhead Stadium during the FIFA World Cup and a standoff with police. The FBI’s Kansas City field office has announced a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Oscar Sanchez-Munoz. He is described as a White and Hispanic man, weighing approximately 184 pounds, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall with brown hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo on his right forearm.

Authorities have issued a warning to the public, considering Sanchez-Munoz “armed and dangerous.” His involvement is suspected in at least six shootings across multiple states. The ongoing search for Sanchez-Munoz originated from violent incidents in Kansas and Missouri.

A state warrant was issued for his arrest on Tuesday after he allegedly shot at a car on June 11 in Wyandotte County, Kansas. In addition to the firearm discharge charge, Sanchez-Munoz faces an outstanding warrant in the same county for aggravated assault, warranting a $100,000 bond. The Kansas City Police Department believes Sanchez-Munoz is the prime suspect in five shootings that occurred Tuesday night in Kansas City, Missouri, along Interstate 70, close to Arrowhead Stadium, which hosted several FIFA World Cup matches.

One person was killed, another sustained serious injuries, and multiple others, including an Uber driver shot in the leg while transporting fans to the World Cup match between Argentina and Algeria, are anticipated to recover, according to Fox News.

The Kansas City shootings led to an intense overnight standoff at a residence in Independence, Missouri. The standoff ended with the house catching fire, police reported. After the fire was extinguished, investigators, alongside K-9 units and Missouri State Fire Marshals, searched the burned property but did not locate Sanchez-Munoz.

Although the car thought to be involved in the Tuesday night shootings was recovered successfully, potential motives remain undisclosed as of Saturday afternoon.

The FBI and Kansas City Police Department urge the public to stay vigilant and contact 911 if they spot Sanchez-Munoz. Those with information about his whereabouts can call 911, submit tips at kccrimestoppers.com, or contact their local FBI office.
