15 minutes ago 0

First lady Melania Trump joked about her recent absence from the public eye. She began a White House Rose Garden event saying, “Good afternoon, I heard you missed me. Here I am.” She and President Donald Trump attended a “Fostering the Future” announcement. The event promoted a new partnership involving her foster care initiative, IndyCar, Fox Sports, Indiana University, and Purdue University. This initiative aims to expand scholarship and support options for young people leaving foster care. The event preceded the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C.

Previous Public Appearances

Melania Trump had skipped notable July events, including Senator Lindsey Graham’s funeral and the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Her last appearance was on July 19 at the FIFA World Cup final at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, where she was photographed with President Trump watching the match.

She attended several events in the past months. On July 4, she was present at Trump’s “Salute to America 250” celebration on the National Mall. In June, she attended UFC Freedom 250 on the White House South Lawn, where she sat ringside with the Trump family and UFC President Dana White. In April, she was at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which ended abruptly due to a security scare.

Security Concerns

The U.S. Secret Service mentioned awareness of an Iran-linked video targeting Melania Trump amid U.S.-Iran tensions. They monitor and investigate potential threats directed at people under their protection. Nate Herring, from the Secret Service’s Communications and Media Relations, confirmed the investigation of such threats but did not detail protective intelligence operations. There is no public link between the first lady’s absence and any reported Iranian threat.
