A teenager from Utah who disappeared more than a year ago has been safely found in Oregon after an exhaustive search lasting over 500 days. Kylie Arellano, now 17, vanished on May 29, 2025, from her home in Garden City, Utah.
A wide-ranging federal and state investigation followed her disappearance, leading authorities through many unverified sightings. Ultimately, the search concluded with her recovery on Sunday.
Law enforcement discovered Kylie with a 39-year-old man, who was taken into custody without any incidents. This operation involved collaboration between Oregon law enforcement, the FBI’s Salt Lake City field office, and the Rich County Sheriff’s Office.
The FBI and Rich County Sheriff’s Office dedicated significant resources to this case, pursuing multiple leads across the U.S. and internationally.
A statement from the FBI’s Salt Lake City field office confirmed that since the case is still ongoing, additional information is presently restricted. However, the successful rescue was attributed to the efforts of the Oregon State Police and the Utah Department of Public Safety.
FBI Director Kash Patel expressed gratitude for the safe return of Kylie and committed to ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
Leading up to the rescue, Kylie’s mother marked a significant online milestone of 500 days since her disappearance. Reports indicate that the suspect may have initially contacted Kylie via Snapchat. An extensive search tracing multiple states was undertaken by the Rich County Sheriff, chasing various leads.
New information about the investigation surfaced shortly before Kylie was located. These included details from unsealed warrants which explored past allegations of physical abuse against Kylie’s mother. Her mother denied any involvement in Kylie’s disappearance, asserting that she had been groomed online.
