Mercedes Moné Clinches AEW Women’s World Championship

Three years ago, Mercedes Moné was seen in the audience at All In, evaluating the women’s division and contemplating moving to All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Months later, she made the leap, debuting and making a significant impact in the AEW women’s division. Moné claimed the TBS Championship by defeating Willow Nightingale and held it for over 500 days, until Nightingale defeated her on December 31, 2025. This victory set the stage for a new rivalry when Nightingale won the AEW Women’s World Championship and Moné triumphed in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.

On Sunday, Moné poured every effort into securing the AEW Women’s World Championship. She capitalized on Nightingale’s broken hand, applying the Money Maker submission maneuver to force her opponent to pass out.

The match began intensely, with Moné suffering a bloody nose from Nightingale’s attack. Despite the injury, Nightingale maintained her resilience, executing a suplex outside the ring and a powerful pounce that incapacitated both Moné and the referee. In the commotion, Nightingale lashed Moné with the leather strap of the championship belt, pushing Moné to her limits as Nightingale’s injury took its toll. By the end, Nightingale was exhausted, and the referee concluded the match.

As Moné begins her first reign as AEW Women’s World Champion, her AEW accomplishments include a tenure as TBS Champion and two victories in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament. Her next challenger may already be positioning herself.

Thekla observed from above Wembley Stadium, having reappeared on AEW programming earlier in the event. She had previously lost the AEW Women’s World Championship to Nightingale at Redemption and had not been present until the recent show on Sunday. With All Out approaching in a month, a showdown between Moné and Thekla could form an epic encounter in September.
