In an impressive display of coaching prowess, Mike Macdonald can now proudly call himself a Super Bowl-winning head coach after just two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks clinched the Super Bowl LX title by overpowering the New England Patriots with a 29-13 victory, showcasing a dominant defensive performance.
The game took place at Levi’s Stadium, where Macdonald celebrated this triumphant moment with his team. In an interview on the field with NBC’s Maria Taylor, Macdonald expressed his gratitude by saying, I believe God called me to be a coach and I listened to Him and I thank Him. We are incredibly blessed to be Seahawks, to be 12s. And now, we’re world champions.
Under Macdonald’s guidance, the Seahawks’ defense successfully disrupted the Patriots’ quarterback, Drake Maye, limiting his effectiveness throughout the game. Although Maye managed to make a few significant throws, Seattle’s relentless defense kept him on his toes.
The Seahawks’ defensive strategy was outstanding, resulting in six sacks on Maye, forcing two interceptions, and causing a fumble. Uchenna Nwosu, among the standout performers of the game, returned one of those interceptions for a touchdown, effectively sealing any potential comeback hopes for the Patriots.
Seattle’s defense proved to be a cornerstone of their success throughout the 2025 season, finishing first in points allowed and sixth in yards allowed. The team concluded the regular season with a strong 14-3 record, securing the NFC West title and claiming their first Super Bowl victory since the 2013 season.
En route to the Super Bowl, the Seahawks also demonstrated their superiority by defeating formidable opponents such as the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams.
