MJF Claims Third AEW World Championship in Intense Showdown

4 weeks ago 0

Maxwell Jacob Friedman, known as MJF, was focused and determined as he entered the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) main event at Double or Nothing. The event took place in New York City on a Sunday night, with MJF eyeing his third AEW world championship in his home state. He faced off against Darby Allin, who had previously taken the title from him over a month ago.

The night was made even more intense with pro wrestling legend Mick Foley’s involvement. Foley, appearing for the first time with the company, had strong words for MJF before the match. MJF responded with a low blow to Foley and shocked the eager fans hoping for Allin to retain the title and see MJF go bald.

Weather typical of the Pacific Northwest set the mood on this Memorial Day weekend. MJF and Allin met in a fierce battle, with MJF managing to dodge a suicide dive from Allin, causing Allin to collide with the announce table.

Throughout the match, MJF executed a powerbomb on the apron and prepared to use the steel steps for a package piledriver. The damage took a toll on both competitors. Near exhaustion, they briefly shared a moment of mutual respect across the ring.

MJF carried the fight onto the ramp, seeking to shave Allin’s head before the clippers could be used on him. However, Allin countered, knocking MJF down and setting up what would become the night’s most astonishing moment.

Announcer Justin Roberts introduced Allin, known for his unpredictable style. Allin escalated the drama by scaling the scaffolding and honoring Foley with a signature “bang, bang” gesture. He then took a high-risk leap, crashing through MJF and a table.

The daring move left Allin injured, with a bleeding head as he struggled to drag MJF back into the ring. He executed a Coffin Drop, but MJF kicked out. Attempting a Scorpion Death Lock, Allin faltered due to exhaustion.

MJF turned the tables, thwarting another Coffin Drop and positioning Allin for an avalanche Tombstone Piledriver. Successfully executing the move, MJF pinned Allin to win the match and secure his third AEW world championship.

This victory solidifies MJF among wrestling legends such as Lou Thesz, The Rock, and John Cena. Additionally, he avoided the consequence of having his head shaved. The intense match ended tragically for Allin, who was stretchered out of the ring.

In a surprising twist, Kevin Knight appeared and attacked Allin with a UFO Splash while he was on the stretcher. Knight’s actions set the stage for further developments on “Dynamite.”
