New York City Council to Investigate Marketing Tactics in Prediction Market Industry

1 day ago 0

The New York City Council has initiated an investigation into the marketing strategies of four prominent prediction market platforms. Concerns focus on what the council considers ‘predatory’ practices, alongside ‘potentially false, deceptive, or abusive’ tactics employed by major players in this rapidly growing industry.

The industry’s value has reached billions, attracting substantial attention and scrutiny from regulators. The council’s inquiry aims to ensure that marketing approaches are transparent and do not mislead or harm consumers.

A recent advertisement from Kalshi, featuring well-known Argentina soccer players Nicolas Otamendi, Lionel Messi, and Rodrigo De Paul, appeared in New York’s Times Square. Such ads have contributed to the council’s apprehension about the influence of these platforms and their outreach methods.
