Alice Cooper guitarist Nita Strauss has become a mother for the first time. She and her husband, musician-manager Josh Villalta, welcomed their son, Maxwell James Villalta, on May 28. They recently shared their joy with the public through an interview with People Magazine and social media posts.
The couple expressed their excitement and challenges as new parents. Nita shared, “We’re in the full on newborn trenches: exhausted, running on fumes and figuring new parenthood out as we go, and it’s still been the most fulfilling and incredible time of our lives.” She described motherhood as the best experience in her life, even after a few days.
When asked about the name Maxwell, Josh explained it reflects the hope that their son will do everything to the max in his life. The middle name James honors Nita’s father, musician James Strauss.
Nita described giving birth as the hardest yet most rewarding experience. She recalled, “I’ve always heard people say ‘You don’t know true love until they put your baby on your chest for the first time,’ but I never fully understood it until it happened to me!” The moment felt like entering a new world as they welcomed their new child.
Nita expressed her excitement for all phases of motherhood. She is eager to learn the ropes of caring for a newborn and looks forward to bringing him on tour when the time is right. “It’s going to be amazing, chaotic, and exciting and we wouldn’t have it any other way,” she added.
While Nita is on maternity leave from touring with Alice Cooper, Anna Cara, a 22-year-old guitarist, is taking her place. Having interviewed Nita many times, her delightful personality and passion suggest she will excel as a mother.
