OpenAI, Anthropic PBC, and SpaceXAI experienced significant outages on Thursday, causing disruptions for many users. These incidents were reported by users and confirmed on the companies’ status pages, affecting services from three leading U.S. AI model creators.
User reports on Downdetector, a site for monitoring service interruptions, showed that tens of thousands faced issues with OpenAI’s services. OpenAI acknowledged the outages, stating that they were investigating increased error rates across the ChatGPT chatbot and the Codex AI coding tool.
Anthropic encountered similar issues. The company reported that while several of its models had recovered from initial errors, it was still addressing ongoing disruptions with its Opus 4.8 and Opus 5 AI models.
Elon Musk’s SpaceXAI also faced service outages. Their chatbot, known as Grok, is among the affected services, and this was verified through the company’s status page.
