PAC Airs Attack Ad on Lauren Boebert Over Theater Incident

17 minutes ago 0

A super PAC recently aired an attack ad targeting Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert. This ad highlights an incident where she was removed from a theater during a performance of ‘Beetlejuice’ in 2023.

The Invest in Tomorrow Coalition PAC disclosed in a Federal Election Commission filing that it spent $1.5 million opposing Boebert, who seeks reelection in the upcoming November midterms. Newsweek attempted to contact the PAC and Boebert’s campaign for comments via email.

During the ‘Beetlejuice’ performance in Denver, Boebert and a male companion were removed for causing a disturbance. CCTV footage appeared to show her vaping and engaging in inappropriate behavior with her companion. The footage also showed her being escorted out while making an obscene gesture at an employee.

The attack ad mixes clips from the CCTV footage with media headlines from the period. The narrator comments, ‘Beetlejuice is an ‘80s family classic. Also the show that Lauren Boebert was kicked out of for groping her date in a room full of children.’ The narrator further states, ‘Costs are skyrocketing in Colorado and politicians are failing us. If Lauren Boebert can’t be trusted in a room full of kids, then she can’t be trusted in the halls of Congress.’

Boebert has apologized for the incident, stating that she ‘fell short of my values.’ She explained she was experiencing a ‘public and difficult divorce,’ contributing to a challenging time for her and her family.

Clean Energy PAC Targets Republicans

The PAC’s $1.5 million expenditure on anti-Boebert ads remains unclear if used entirely on the theater incident, as it’s the only ad noted in the Google Ads Transparency Center. Invest in Tomorrow Coalition focuses on clean energy but often addresses other vulnerabilities in lawmakers’ records.

The PAC previously announced a $15 million plan to challenge Republicans opposing renewable energy incentives in seven U.S. House races, including Boebert’s. Similar ads have been aimed at Indiana Representative Victoria Spartz, emphasizing her healthcare stance and alleged personal gains from office.

Boebert faces Democrat Eileen Laubacher in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District. Recent polls indicate Boebert is currently leading. For further details, contact Newsweek editors Matthew Robinson and Tony Phillips.
