Paul George made an impressive debut with the Boston Celtics, scoring 31 points in just three quarters against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday. This achievement breaks the Celtics’ all-time record for points in a debut, previously held by Kristaps Porzingis, who scored 30 points in 2023.
At 36, George is now in his 17th NBA season. He joined the Celtics in the offseason through a major trade that sent Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers. During the game, George successfully made six out of eight three-point attempts by the end of the third quarter. If he keeps up this high level of performance, he would be a strong complement to Jayson Tatum.
In this game, George took up the scoring duties as Tatum struggled, missing all seven three-point attempts. Despite George’s remarkable 38-point effort, the Celtics were defeated by the Pistons with a score of 121-113.
