Dan Lanning, Oregon’s head football coach, is gathering information about the arrest of wide receiver Evan Stewart. Lanning promised to take ‘appropriate action’ after he has all the details. ‘There will be an appropriate action taken,’ Lanning stated. He mentioned the matter will be dealt with internally and declined to answer further questions.
Evan Stewart was arrested early Sunday for driving under the influence following Oregon’s victory over Nebraska. He was placed in custody at the Springfield Municipal Jail as per police records.
Lanning expressed disappointment over the incident, saying it overshadowed the Ducks’ win. Stewart, who did not play due to injury, has 27 receptions for 352 yards and four touchdowns this season. Previously, he missed an entire season owing to a patellar tendon injury.
Dan Lanning reiterated, ‘There was an incident this weekend that didn’t match our standard here in our program.’
Oregon is set to play against Illinois, with uncertainty surrounding quarterback Dante Moore’s availability as he recovers from a concussion. He practiced before the Week 6 game against UCLA, which Oregon lost 17-15. Instead, quarterbacks Brock Thoman and Dylan Raiola played in recent games, including the loss to UCLA and the victory against Nebraska.
