Rob Schneider, known for his roles in films like “Grown Ups,” has a complex relationship with his daughter Elle King, a talented country singer. Despite past challenges, Schneider remains hopeful about their future.

In a recent appearance on Andrew Gold’s “Heretics” podcast, the 62-year-old actor admitted he has faced difficulties as a father. He recalled a public appearance where he acknowledged not being the kind of father his daughter needed.

The actor commented on a broader issue he sees in American culture. He noted that many children go off to college and return home with strained relationships with their parents. According to Schneider, this vulnerability affects both familial and cultural ties.

“It’s an attack on the culture in a way that the culture is vulnerable,” Schneider stated.

Elle King, on the other hand, openly shared her perspective on growing up with Schneider. On the “Dumb Blonde” podcast hosted by BunnieXO, King discussed her childhood experiences. She described periods of estrangement, mentioning that her father could go years without speaking to her.

She elaborated on these experiences, saying, “If I would ever spend a summer with my dad, it would be on a movie set. I would just get lost in the shuffle.” King also shared that her father often forgot her birthdays, including her 18th.

“You can want someone to change so much; you can’t control anyone else’s actions. You can’t control people’s feelings,” King said.

Schneider has since apologized, expressing uncertainty about whether King accepted his apology. “The door’s open, and I would say, you know, I love you and … I’m there when you want,” he remarked on the podcast.

He emphasized the importance of being available and maintaining an “open door” policy to foster a better relationship with his daughter.

Schneider reflected on his personal beliefs and the role they play in navigating difficult times. He highlighted the importance of recognizing a “higher power” beyond fame and success.

“The thing about Christianity, it’s really … it’s love others, and it’s really about forgiveness,” Schneider commented on finding peace through faith.

Elle King’s representatives did not respond to requests for further comment on the matter.
