CONCORD, N.C. — Samantha Busch, wife of the late NASCAR champion Kyle Busch, shared a heartfelt message following his sudden passing at 41. Her announcement, posted on Instagram, expressed gratitude to fans who supported the family during this difficult time.
“The prayers, messages, flowers, meals, hugs, and countless acts of kindness have carried us through the most heartbreaking days of our lives. While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God’s presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you,” Samantha wrote.
Kyle Busch died on May 21 due to severe pneumonia that developed into sepsis, leading to rapid complications. His death certificate notes he suffered from pneumonia for a period ranging from days to weeks. The news of his death profoundly affected the NASCAR community.
Despite feeling unwell during a race at Watkins Glen on May 10, he informed his team of his need for medical attention but continued to compete. He managed to win the Truck Series race at Dover and finished the All-Star race in 17th place, days before his passing. He also spent time with his son Brexton at a go-kart track opening shortly before he died.
Samantha’s statement on social media marked the family’s first public comment since Kyle’s passing. “The love that has surrounded our family during this unimaginable time has brought comfort in the middle of so much pain. Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they are honoring him through each unique act of generosity is a true testament to how special Kyle is to so many people,” she expressed.
Samantha extended her gratitude to everyone who showed support, saying, “Thank you for showing up for us. Thank you for loving our family so well. Thank you for loving Kyle. Thank you for honoring him. We may never find the words to fully express what your support has meant to us, but please know that we are deeply grateful.”
Kyle Busch was a prominent figure in NASCAR, winning Cup Series championships in 2015 and 2019 for Joe Gibbs Racing. As the younger brother of NASCAR driver Kurt Busch, he achieved a record 234 combined wins across NASCAR’s top three national series, including 63 Cup victories, 102 O’Reilly Auto Parts wins, and 69 Trucks victories.
