Sarti Rosa: The Italian Aperitif Making Waves in the U.S.

1 hour ago 0

Sarti Rosa, the latest sensation in the spirits world, is making its debut in the United States, having been a staple in Europe. This Italian aperitif, crafted by Casa Luigi Sarti & Figli in Bologna since 1885, combines the unique flavors of blood orange, mango, and passion fruit.

Some experts anticipate that Sarti Rosa might rival popular summer cocktails such as the Aperol and Hugo spritz, thanks to its vibrant pink hue and enticing fruity flavor. Users on social media have embraced it, with many praising its arrival in the U.S. as a game-changer in the liquor market.

An influencer expressed excitement over finding Sarti Rosa in Boston on social media, while others shared their fondness for this new beverage as they experienced it in Italy. The official Sarti Rosa Instagram page received numerous requests for the drink to be available in various U.S. cities, indicating strong demand.

Currently, Sarti Rosa can be found in select locations throughout the country, with a price tag of approximately $29.99 per bottle in New York City. Despite its popularity on social media, Derek Brown, co-founder of Drink Company in Washington, D.C., pointed out that Sarti hasn’t yet become ubiquitous in bars nationwide.

Brown noted that although social media has rapidly elevated Sarti’s profile, it takes time for bartenders and consumers to adopt new products. He emphasized that as more people request Sarti by name and bars begin to stock it, the drink’s popularity will likely grow.

The appealing pink color and limited availability of Sarti Rosa are key factors in its allure. Some research suggests that pink drinks often taste sweeter and can evoke a sense of pleasure, making it particularly attractive for social media sharing. Its relatively low alcohol content of 14% also adds to its appeal.

Looking ahead, Brown envisions Sarti Rosa being recognized as a leading summer drink option alongside other spritzes. Restaurants are already experimenting with unique variations of the Sarti spritz, such as the ‘Saint Sarti Spritz’ at The Farm Italy in New York, which includes St-Germain, lemon sorbet, mint, and prosecco.

Marisela Camacho, a manager and beverage director at The Farm Italy, noted that Sarti spritzes have been a massive hit, with increasing customer requests even before they arrive at the restaurant. She predicts Sarti’s appeal will persist beyond the summer, with potential adaptations for fall and winter.
