2 weeks ago 0

The San Antonio Spurs clinched a crucial victory in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, defeating the New York Knicks 115-111 at Madison Square Garden. With this win, the Spurs snapped the Knicks’ impressive 13-game playoff win streak. New York, however, still leads the series 2-1.

Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs with a commanding performance, scoring 32 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and dishing out six assists. His contributions were vital as the Spurs’ defense held the Knicks to just 2-of-12 from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter.

While Wembanyama was outstanding, his teammates De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle made significant contributions as well. Both hit crucial baskets, ensuring the Spurs’ momentum on the road. San Antonio started strong, leading by 11 points at the end of the first quarter, thanks to Wembanyama and Castle’s early success on the court.

The Knicks, known for their resilience, came back hard in the first half. OG Anunoby, Jalen Brunson, and Josh Hart played pivotal roles in securing a 64-57 lead by halftime, working up the crowd’s energy at Madison Square Garden.

The Spurs, however, retaliated in the second half by forcing turnovers and immediately closing the deficit. A vigorous exchange of baskets ensued, with San Antonio holding a slim lead into the final quarter.

Persistent foul trouble for the Knicks allowed San Antonio to extend their advantage in the fourth quarter. Wembanyama capitalized on free-throw opportunities while the Knicks struggled with their shooting.

Despite leading by eight points with under five minutes left, the Spurs had to fend off New York’s last-ditch efforts. Key plays by Castle and Fox secured the Spurs’ lead, and Castle’s decisive three-pointer widened the gap.

Late attempts by the Knicks, including a notable three from Anunoby, were countered by Castle’s clutch free throws, finally sealing San Antonio’s victory. Castle finished the game with 23 points, while all Spurs starters scored in double digits.

Landry Shamet’s struggle, shooting 1-of-8, highlighted the Knicks’ challenges. Despite the presence of President Donald Trump, alongside Knicks owner James Dolan in a suite, the heightened security did not deter the focus of the Spurs.

Game 4 of the series is scheduled for Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET, again at Madison Square Garden.
