The Costliest NBA Finals Game at Madison Square Garden

3 weeks ago 0

The first NBA Finals game at Madison Square Garden this millennium is grabbing attention due to its potential to become the most sought-after ticket ever. The New York Knicks are on a quest to claim their first championship in 53 years, hosting Game 3 of the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999.

Knicks games typically come with a hefty price tag, but the cost for this game eclipses previous ones. As of the time of writing, the get-in price on SeatGeek is $9,990 for the most affordable seats. Only two listings are available below the $10,000 mark, while the least expensive ticket in the 100-level on StubHub is priced at $13,115. This sets a new record for the most expensive ticket in NBA history.

According to the New York Post, citing SeatGeek data, the average ticket price for Madison Square Garden during this series (Games 3, 4, and 6) is $7,149. This figure surpasses the prior record of $1,965 set in Dallas during the 2024 series.

Only prices for the Super Bowl LVIII in 2024, featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, had a higher average at $10,497 than this year’s Knicks home games.

President Donald Trump has announced his attendance at Monday’s game. After the Knicks secured a victory in Game 1 on the road in San Antonio, ticket prices surged even more as fans’ excitement intensified. Should the Knicks also win Game 2 on the road and return home leading the series 2-0, prices might escalate further.

A digital billboard by Nike Basketball showcasing Knicks guard Jalen Brunson with the message “This Train is Not Stopping” highlights the excitement surrounding the team. The Knicks, 2026 Eastern Conference champions, are returning to the NBA Finals stage for the first time since 1999.

Game 2 is scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. ET.
