President Donald Trump accused the media of wanting the United States to lose its military efforts against Iran. In a conversation with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Trump defended ongoing military actions and hinted at further strikes on Tehran.
Trump alleged that Iran’s military, although severely weakened, received sympathetic news coverage. He particularly criticized The New York Times, claiming it falsely portrayed Iran as stronger than before the military campaign.
Addressing Iran’s economic struggles, Trump noted a significant rise in the country’s inflation rate from 5% to 301%. Yet, according to Trump, some media reports suggested Iran’s condition improved.
“They’re not doing well with their nuclear. Every time we hear about it, we blow it up,” he said.
Trump warned of imminent American attacks, following recent missile and drone exchanges between the nations. Among potential targets, he mentioned the fortified Pickaxe Mountain complex near Iran’s Natanz facility.
Despite its protection, Trump suggested that U.S. forces might target the site soon. Pickaxe Mountain contains tunnel complexes believed tough to penetrate with bunker-busting bombs. International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors have not accessed Pickaxe Mountain, though satellite images indicated vehicle activity and possible fortification work.
The U.S. Central Command announced a resumed blockade on vessels from Iranian ports, allowing humanitarian shipments but warning of potential force against non-compliance.
