Ty Kennedy’s Impactful Move to Mount Carmel

Junior tight end Ty Kennedy transferred from Crown Point in Indiana to join Mount Carmel’s football team, a squad already filled with experienced players. Kennedy adjusted well to the new environment, expressing appreciation for his teammates and coaches. He described the transition as easy due to the welcoming culture at Mount Carmel.

Kennedy’s performance against Marist highlighted his growing influence on the field. He secured four receptions, totaling 66 yards and scoring two touchdowns during the game. This contributed to Mount Carmel’s decisive 56-26 victory in the Catholic League Blue matchup.

Quarterback Brady Cloherty threw for 295 yards and recorded five touchdowns, leading the Caravan to score 28 points in the final eight minutes. He noted a slow start but credited Coach Jordan Lynch for motivating the team to find the end zone.

Marshaun Thornton also shone, achieving 139 yards and two touchdowns on four catches. Nathan Samuels contributed with 112 rushing yards and a touchdown. For Marist, Jake Fleming threw for 211 yards with three touchdowns.

Cloherty commented on Kennedy’s role, saying, “Ty does all the dirty work in the run game and he’s a great receiver too. He always comes down with the ball.”

Kennedy, who also plays basketball and lacrosse, finds these sports enhance his football skills. He plans to continue participating in all three sports as advised by his father.
