Washington Commanders Sign Stefon Diggs Amidst Concerns Over Brandon Aiyuk’s Behavior

The Washington Commanders are set to bolster their wide receiver lineup by signing veteran Stefon Diggs. NFL Network announced this development on Wednesday. Diggs is expected to join the team on a one-year contract, which will be more lucrative than a minimum salary deal.

Stefon Diggs offers valuable experience to the Commanders, having played for three different teams over the past three seasons. In this time, he has achieved two 1,000-yard seasons. Despite his productive performance, Diggs managed to wear out his welcome at previous teams. Nonetheless, the Commanders chose him over Brandon Aiyuk, a wide receiver with a rather eventful recent history.

Brandon Aiyuk signed a significant contract with the San Francisco 49ers in 2024 but faced setbacks due to an injury. He did not play in 2025 and has since been embroiled in controversy due to erratic behavior.

The Commanders have placed their trust in Diggs, who comes from the DMV area (D.C., Maryland, and Virginia). Diggs, after a healthy offseason, will be reunited with a good quarterback, Jayden Daniels.

Meanwhile, Aiyuk’s conduct has raised red flags across NFL circles. Reports suggest his antics include speeding over 100 MPH near the 49ers’ facility, failing to report training sessions, and subsequently facing an arrest warrant. He has also posted videos mocking the 49ers management and his coach’s accident, which has generated negative attention.

Brandon Aiyuk openly wanted to join the Commanders, hoping to play alongside Jayden Daniels, his former Arizona State teammate. However, due to his reputation, the interest from the Commanders dwindled. This decision might push Aiyuk to reconsider his actions or risk further impacting his career prospects.
