Xavier Pratt made a significant impact in Homewood-Flossmoor’s recent game. He not only scored a crucial touchdown but also performed as the long snapper for the extra point. This dual role showcases his versatility. Pratt, a junior receiver and tight end, embraced long snapping last year. He believes that this skill adds to his appeal for recruiters, as he can both score and maintain composure to snap the ball effectively.

Pratt’s contributions were invaluable in Homewood-Flossmoor’s 35-0 victory over Richards. His 19-yard touchdown catch from Rahsaan Coleman set the pace, helping the Vikings strengthen their lead. Coleman had a strong performance, completing 11 of 18 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns. A 60-yard touchdown pass to Ashton Jones was a highlight. Sophomore running back Theodore Williams added 71 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries.

“The coaches had a great talk with us at halftime and really pumped us up,” Pratt said. “I had to make a play. I knew the guy over me couldn’t guard me. I know Rahsaan was going to deliver and I made the play.”

Defensively, the Vikings excelled. Robert Williams III and Zen Cambric each secured interceptions, with Williams scoring a touchdown after a 50-yard return. Javier Stewart added a sack and tackle for loss. Isaiah Flowers also had an interception for Richards.

In the first half, Richards kept the game close, trailing only 7-0. However, Pratt’s touchdown in the second half sparked a 28-point surge for Homewood-Flossmoor. His proficiency in both offense and long snapping highlights his commitment and skill.
