On Tuesday, at the Group of Seven summit in France, President Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The meeting comes as Russia’s ongoing conflict in Ukraine returns to the forefront of Washington’s concerns, showing no signs of resolution.
During the summit, Trump addressed reporters, dismissing the idea that the conflict should directly affect U.S. interests, stating, “has no impact on us … we’re thousands of miles away.” This remark highlights the geographical distance, which he suggests minimizes U.S. involvement.
Trump’s comments were made in the presence of France’s Emmanuel Macron. The G-7 summit included discussions on various global issues, with Ukraine being a significant point of discussion due to its persistent and unresolved nature.
