Two individuals in Georgia face murder charges following the alleged killing and dismemberment of a bartender, later identified as Jamal Rashad Parker. Authorities discovered Parker’s remains in the Dog River Reservoir, approximately 30 miles from Atlanta. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed these charges against Mario Andre Barber, 46, and Brittany Amber Baker, 42, who were taken into custody on Monday.
Parker’s identity was verified using DNA technology after his father noted that the victim’s tattoos matched those of his son. Investigations suggest the murder occurred in a Douglasville home where Baker resided.
Last month, investigators removed a reciprocating saw and cleaning supplies from the residence. While the relationship between Parker and the suspects remains undisclosed, a GoFundMe page created by a family member suggested they were known and trusted by Parker.
Describing Parker as a bartender, musician, and artist, a family member highlighted his “beautiful soul and spirit.” The suspects have entered a plea of not guilty and remain in custody without bond. Reports indicate their extensive criminal histories.
“I want them to be punished. And I don’t even think a life sentence is good enough,” said Parker’s father, Charles Parker, addressing reporters outside the courthouse. He expressed his disbelief over the incident, noting the suspects’ lack of remorse.
Parker worked at Ms. Icey’s Kitchen & Bar in Atlanta and was known for his creativity as both a musical and visual artist. A family fundraiser aims to cover his burial expenses, underscoring the profound impact of his loss on family and friends.
