Lindy Li’s Critique of Biden’s Re-election Explanation Moves

Lindy Li, a former Democratic fundraiser, has voiced her opinion that President Joe Biden is not helping himself by planning to explain his decision to run for re-election in 2024. She feels this explanation might not satisfy the public, especially given the ongoing concerns about his age and cognitive abilities.

Li’s thoughts were shared in light of Biden’s upcoming memoir, “Promise Me, America.” She believes the memoir will reopen difficult chapters for Democrats following their struggles since the loss in the 2024 election. Li asserts the book reflects Biden’s presidency, capturing its essence in her view.

Li mentioned to the press, “Prior to my departure from the party, there was a strong desire to distance from Biden. This sentiment was evident when Biden left office on July 21 without any notable farewell event, except a small gathering in the Rose Garden.” She remarked on Jill Biden’s encouragement for Biden to write books that aren’t widely desired, instead of enjoying retirement.

Biden faced ongoing speculation about cognitive decline during his presidency. Li pointed out, “Much like how he was urged to run for a presidency few desired, he should have retired years ago.”

Biden announced on social media about his upcoming book addressing national challenges and his political decisions, including his decision to run for re-election and later to step aside. This sparked criticism online with figures such as Steve Guest expressing skepticism about Biden’s involvement in writing the book.

Clay Travis criticized the timing of the book’s release, implying it was strategically avoided during midterm elections to prevent reminding the public of Biden’s perceived inadequacies.

Notable critics like Brent Scher and Rep. Jason Smith questioned Biden’s authorship, suggesting potential use of an autopen.

Li, preparing her own forthcoming book, “Unburdened,” recounted her experiences with party’s internal affairs, revealing that Biden had tenuous backing within his own camp well before his decision to exit the 2024 race.

Li shared an incident from a 2023 event where her phone was confiscated by the Democratic National Committee due to her active social media presence. She was instructed to delete posts about Biden, fearing his perceived frailty might impact his image.

This incident ties into broader intra-party tensions, as Democrats faced challenges surrounding how party needs were managed during the campaign.

Ultimately, Li suspects Biden’s campaign efforts might end up further alienating fellow Democrats, rekindling doubts over why his exit was delayed, worrying that instead of showcasing a proud candidate, they were busy concealing one they felt ashamed of.
