Due to visa issues, these artisans cannot travel to Tennessee, preventing the festival from proceeding. Earlier this year, a similar situation led to the cancellation of a lantern festival in Des Moines, Iowa, highlighting ongoing challenges for cultural and seasonal events involving international artists in the U.S.

Zoolumination began in 2019 in Nashville and gained popularity as a major holiday attraction, showcasing over 1,000 handmade silk lanterns.

Despite the cancellation of Zoolumination, Nashville Zoo has announced a new event titled Glow Wild. This holiday celebration will present illuminated wildlife displays and festive installations, highlighted by an 85-foot synchronized Christmas tree. The Glow Wild event will run from November 13 to January 3, 2027.
