Craig Carton criticized investigative reporter Pablo Torre for his recent focus on Tim Tebow in a report about Life Surge. Torre’s investigation suggested that the organization used Tebow’s involvement as part of a business model that pressured attendees for significant financial investment.

Carton acknowledged Torre as a “brilliant investigative reporter” but expressed concern about linking Tebow to the alleged misconduct without clear evidence of his knowledge. Carton stated on his show, “Tim Tebow doesn’t deserve to be dragged into this unless you have undeniable proof. Without it, you’ve defamed him. If I were Tebow, I’d consider this actionable and regrettable.”

In response, Tebow announced that he was “pausing” his relationship with Life Surge. Tebow told The Gainesville Sun, “The allegations are serious. Our team is conducting an investigation and pausing the relationship until we have more clarity.”

Mother Jones reported that Tebow had spoken at 20 Life Surge events between 2024 and 2025, with plans for more in 2026. Carton didn’t criticize the overall investigation but accused Torre of leveraging Tebow’s fame for personal gain.

Carton emphasized on his show, “Using Tebow’s name to advance your career or draw attention is wrong. Whether the story is accurate or not, if it involves fraud, authorities must investigate. But sullying the reputation of a person dedicated to service is unacceptable.”

Carton highlighted the potential damage to Tebow’s reputation, arguing that the report compelled Tebow to issue a public statement. He concluded, “Allegations that harm an individual’s dedication to service are dangerous and must be substantiated.”
