BROWNSVILLE, Texas — RJ Mitte, known for his role in the TV series ‘Breaking Bad’ and his work as a disability rights advocate, passed away at the age of 34. His death was confirmed on Monday by authorities and his representatives.
Cameron County Justice of the Peace Cyndi Hinojosa informed The Associated Press that she declared Mitte dead around 1:30 p.m., at what she identified as his residence in Brownsville, Texas. She could not specify a cause of death, noting that an autopsy will be conducted.
Mitte portrayed Walter White Jr. in ‘Breaking Bad,’ the son of Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston, throughout the five seasons of the acclaimed AMC show. The series recently received the title of the best show of the 21st century in a New York Times poll.
His representatives highlighted that Mitte, who had cerebral palsy himself, brought genuine depth to his role. He was recognized for using his public platform to challenge stereotypes and enhance awareness and inclusion of people with disabilities.
