During the red carpet event for the premiere of the film Melania, former President Donald Trump spoke expressively about rapper Nicki Minaj. Describing her as a fantastic person, Trump shared with Fox News Digital that Minaj has been a strong supporter of his initiatives from the start. He praised her understanding of the economic goals of his administration, particularly the efforts to ensure young adults, as they reach maturity, have significant financial success.

The film Melania offers an inside look at Melania Trump’s life as she prepared for a potential second term as First Lady, showcasing her transition ahead of the 2025 presidential inauguration. This documentary-style movie provides a rare glimpse into her busy daily schedule, which, according to Melania, made her feel as though the cameras were almost invisible amid her activities. She mentioned that due to security constraints and the fast pace of her tasks, retakes were impossible, resulting in an authentic portrayal.

President Trump remarked on his wife’s intelligence and global understanding, confirming what he considers to be widely acknowledged truths about her capabilities and perspective. He reiterated her keen insight into both national and global issues, despite her origins from another part of the world.

Nicki Minaj and Donald Trump have crossed paths publicly before, notably at the U.S. Treasury Department’s Trump Accounts Summit. At this event, Minaj declared herself a fervent supporter of Trump, proclaiming, “I am probably the president’s number one fan,” and emphasized that criticism only strengthens her support.

House Speaker Mike Johnson also highlighted Minaj’s lively presence in political circles, recounting her visit to the Oval Office capped with a playful nod to Trump by donning a glittery Trump cap that matched her outfit. Her enthusiastic presence was marked by a request not to disclose the insights and events she witnessed during her visit.

Minaj’s vocal support for Trump first gained attention in November 2025 when she commended his advocacy for Christians facing violence in Nigeria. Responding to a post by Trump on Truth Social about U.S. readiness to help Nigerian Christians, Minaj expressed gratitude for his recognition of the issue.

Further cementing her enthusiasm for Trump, Minaj celebrated when the White House’s TikTok account utilized a viral mashup of her song “Beez in the Trap” with “What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondes, featuring clips of President Trump and Melania. Minaj shared her excitement on social media and playfully acknowledged the person who uploaded the video, assuring special perks for them as a gesture of appreciation.
