Fire Erupts at Pennsylvania Hospital Prompting Evacuation Efforts

Emergency responders faced a challenging situation on Wednesday night as they worked to extinguish a fire and evacuate patients from a hospital in Dickson City, Pennsylvania. According to officials, the blaze affected part of Lehigh Valley Hospital, necessitating immediate action from first responders.

In a statement from the hospital spokesperson, it was confirmed that all patients, staff, and visitors were evacuated safely. As the night wore on into early Thursday, emergency crews continued their efforts to manage the situation at the hospital.

Governor Josh Shapiro took to the social platform X to communicate the state’s response, highlighting the involvement of the police, emergency management agency, and health department in addressing the fire. He expressed gratitude to the first responders for their bravery, stating, “Thank you to every first responder running toward danger to help their fellow Pennsylvanians.” He also shared a heartfelt message, adding, “Lori and I are praying for the staff, patients, their families, and the entire community tonight.”

U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan Jr. acknowledged the efforts on X, appreciating the prompt and professional response from emergency services.

The cause of the fire at the hospital, located approximately six miles north of Scranton, remained unknown. However, online videos and photos depicted flames emerging prominently from what appears to be the hospital’s Orthopedic Institute.

The community continues to express deep appreciation for the efforts made by emergency responders and hospital staff to ensure everyone’s safety during the incident.
