Bryson DeChambeau’s Optimism Amid Changes in LIV Golf

4 weeks ago 0

Optimism is not the predominant sentiment surrounding LIV Golf, yet Bryson DeChambeau remains hopeful. He is trying to lift the spirits of the circuit despite recent developments.

In recent weeks, the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced it will cease LIV funding after the 2026 season. This decision leaves the future of LIV uncertain. DeChambeau, a two-time U.S. Open winner, has hinted at shifting his focus to his YouTube channel, potentially attending only major golf tournaments. He also discussed the possibility of returning to the PGA Tour and the challenges involved if such a path becomes available.

As he prepares for this week’s LIV event in Korea, DeChambeau is advocating for the circuit’s future. He expressed his surprise at the PIF’s quick withdrawal, noting, “We were surprised that they pulled out as quickly as they did. We didn’t really see that coming. But that’s okay. One door closes, another opens.”

DeChambeau added, “I think we all have optimism that there is a business plan that makes sense for team golf.” He is optimistic about team golf’s business model compared to others.

DeChambeau is actively working behind the scenes to give LIV a chance for success. “We’ll see if investors like it or not. I’m giving all I can to make it happen,” he explained.

According to reports from Sportico and CNBC, LIV Golf is recruiting new investors with a pitch centered on a 10-event global schedule. The 2026 schedule includes 12 events. The league seeks $250 million to $350 million for ongoing operations, with plans to achieve profitability in three years.
