Barion Brown Impresses at New Orleans Saints Camp

The New Orleans Saints made a strategic decision in the 2026 NFL Draft by selecting Jordyn Tyson in the first round. Pairing Tyson with Chris Olave aims to provide quarterback Tyler Shough with two potent receiving targets. Surprisingly, it’s Barion Brown, a sixth-round pick, who has been capturing attention at training camp.

Recently, head coach Kellen Moore commended Brown for his performance. On Thursday, Brown showcased his talent with a 46-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Spencer Rattler during a two-minute drill. Initially part of the second team during training camp, Brown has since earned more snaps with the first team, indicating he could secure a significant role in the Saints’ 2026 lineup.

In his collegiate career, Brown received first-team All-American and second-team All-SEC honors in 2023 at Kentucky. He accumulated 539 receiving yards, four touchdowns on 43 catches, and 576 kickoff return yards resulting in three return touchdowns. The next year, he transferred to LSU for his senior season, earning first-team All-SEC honors. There, he gained 532 receiving yards and a touchdown on 53 catches, along with 445 kickoff return yards and another return score. Over four college seasons, Brown amassed 2,060 receiving yards, 12 receiving touchdowns, 1,910 kickoff return yards, and six return touchdowns, establishing himself as a special teams standout.

Brown’s role is expanding beyond special teams, promising a more prominent presence in the Saints’ offense. After practice, Coach Moore praised the synergy between Rattler and Brown. “Barion did a great job adjusting to that ball, tracking it. Those are deep balls, and the ball usually tails one way or another because the QB is running, so awesome job making a play,” Moore remarked.

As the season opener approaches, Brown appears to have a meaningful opportunity to secure the No. 3 receiver position. His main competition for targets includes Devaughn Vele and fourth-round rookie Bryce Lance, adding intrigue to the team’s dynamics.
