Chicago Cubs to Host 2027 MLB All-Star Game at Wrigley Field

The Chicago Cubs are preparing for a major event as Wrigley Field is set to host the 2027 MLB All-Star Game on July 13. This marks the fourth time the historic stadium will host the event, following previous games in 1947, 1962, and 1990. No other active stadium has hosted as many All-Star Games.

The new logo for the 2027 event was unveiled, featuring the iconic Wrigley Field marquee as a central element. The logo also includes the six-point star from the Chicago flag, integrating local symbols into the design.

“Chicago’s rich baseball heritage makes it a perfect stage for the game’s brightest stars,” said MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred.

At a ceremony prior to a Cubs-Twins game in July 2026, Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong revealed the logo. Crane Kenney, the Cubs’ president of baseball operations, attended the All-Star festivities in Philadelphia to gain insights for next year’s preparations. Kenney emphasized the importance of careful planning and collaboration with MLB.

“You’re a little more nervous than in most years because you know you’re going to be hosting it next year,” Kenney noted. The planning considers various challenges, including potential impacts from the collective bargaining agreement expiry.

Beyond the game, the event will feature a week of activities, including a fan village. These activities will take place around Wrigley and downtown Chicago, reflecting the city’s dynamic environment.

Preparations also involve forming a host committee with prominent members such as Governor JB Pritzker, Mayor Brandon Johnson, and actor Bill Murray. This committee plays a crucial role in supporting the event financially and philanthropically.

The Cubs aim to highlight Wrigley Field’s recent upgrades, completed in 2021. Features like Gallagher Way were not present during the 2016 World Series games, making this an opportunity to showcase improvements.

Looking back, the ceremony that unveiled the logo celebrated Chicago’s All-Star Game history. It included Cubs legends like Andre Dawson and Billy Williams, who participated in honoring the event’s legacy.

In collaboration with MLB and local authorities, the Cubs hope to make the 2027 All-Star Game a memorable event that emphasizes Chicago’s cultural and sports heritage.
