Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has stirred controversy with his comments on a podcast appearance alongside teammate Cam Heyward. Some admire Rodgers for his candid nature and opposition to conventional norms, while others criticize his abrasive attitude. OutKick’s Craig Carton belongs to the latter group, openly challenging Rodgers over his remarks, comparing him to ‘The LeBron James of the NFL.’
During the podcast, Rodgers expressed discontent with former partner Shailene Woodley, recounting an incident from just days after their engagement. Carton accused Rodgers of seeking attention by bringing up past events that Woodley has not publicly addressed for two years.
Craig Carton stated, “Mr. Narcissist himself, Aaron Rodgers, went on the Cam Heyward Podcast, and decided that this was the right platform to embarrass himself.”
Rodgers also reflected on his break up with NASCAR driver Danica Patrick, commenting on her lack of intimacy and post-retirement depression. He criticized her refusal to contribute financially to his Malibu home, indicating that he had doubts about their relationship’s direction. Carton queried Rodgers’ motives, questioning whether Rodgers gains pleasure from publicly embarrassing his ex-partners.
“What joy do you get out of embarrassing Danica Patrick publicly? What joy do you get out of embarrassing Shailene Woodley publicly,” Carton challenged.
Rodgers didn’t limit his criticism to personal relationships; he scrutinized former Packers teammates, Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley, without directly naming them. Despite his football prowess, Carton questioned whether Rodgers, destined for Hall of Fame recognition, also deserves consideration as an honorable individual.
“As great as Aaron Rodgers was…he’s a lousy person,” explained Carton. “And when it all comes down in the wash, would you rather be a great football player or a great person?”
This scrutiny of Rodgers’ character raises questions about the balance between professional greatness and personal integrity.
