Drew Carey, known as the host of “The Price is Right,” expressed strong opinions about Spencer Pratt’s candidacy for Los Angeles mayor. In a post on social media platform Threads, Carey urged residents to reconsider their votes before the June primaries. He took a direct approach, stating, “Anyone who votes for, or endorses Spencer Pratt for Mayor of LA needs to get their head out of their a–.”
Carey emphasized the importance of supporting someone competent, criticizing Pratt as “some serial scammer without a soul or moral compass.” The comments did not receive immediate responses from Pratt or his representatives.
Pratt, 42, lost his home in the 2025 Palisades wildfire. Since then, he has been vocal about LA residents’ issues, prompting him to launch his campaign in January. His main objective is replacing incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, whom he blames for mismanaging the LA fires.
Pratt, alongside his wife Heidi Montag and other property owners, filed a lawsuit against the city and the Department of Water and Power (LADWP). They alleged that the decision to keep the reservoir drained led to damage during the fires.
As the primaries approach, Pratt urged residents through social media to “think bigger for LA.” He believes the city deserves better and called for collective efforts to improve the city.
Pratt’s campaign faced scrutiny due to his Republican registration and endorsement from former President Donald Trump. Trump expressed support, although he questioned the fairness of California’s voting system.
Despite the political dynamics, Pratt maintained his focus on serving the people rather than any political party. “There’s no R next to my name, there’s no D next to my name. I’m not part of a political party, because I hate politicians,” he wrote.
Pratt’s campaign announcement coincided with the anniversary of the Palisades Fire, using the event to highlight the issues he aims to address if elected. While the mayoral race in LA is nonpartisan, Pratt is prepared for the potential runoff in November if no candidate achieves over 50% of the vote in the primary.
