Duolingo Revives Streak Feature in Upcoming Update

3 weeks ago 0

Duolingo is about to delight many language learners. Starting Monday, June 1, users with a previous 30-day or longer streak may revive it by completing three lessons in a single setting, according to a news release. Streaks are built when users practice daily. Previously, if a user missed a day, they lost their streak and had to begin anew.

An unofficial Duolingo Streak Hall of Fame from Duome.eu reports the longest active streak at 4,890 days, or over 13 years. This impressive record is held by a user in Bethlehem, who has participated nearly every day since Duolingo launched in 2011.

Across over 80 countries, streak recovery has been the most requested feature from Duolingo users. Offering it aligns perfectly with the celebration of the platform’s 15th anniversary, said Cem Kansu, Duolingo’s Chief Product Officer, in the release.

How to Revive a Duolingo Streak

Eligible users will find an option to revive their previous streak in the Duolingo mobile app during this period, according to the news release.

Timeframe for Streak Revival

Duolingo users can revive a lost streak between June 1-30.

Additional Updates on Duolingo

Alongside streak recovery, several new updates will launch on June 1:

  • Expanded Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) content across nine languages.
  • New, free experiences like Speaking Adventures, vocabulary flashcards, and “Explain my Answer” for understanding errors.
  • A practice hub for revisiting past lessons.
  • Duolingo Score for tracking progress through a standards-aligned curriculum.
  • Chess and math courses.
