Freshman shortstop Dallas Bowen has quickly made a significant impact on Hanover Central’s softball team. Senior catcher Sienna Stilley, a Jacksonville State recruit, acknowledges Bowen’s talent. Stilley stated, I choose her every single time. Whether it involves a decisive hit or a game-sealing play, Stilley consistently picks Bowen to rely on.

Despite being a freshman, Bowen exhibits the confidence and poise of a seasoned player. She works diligently and is highly talented. Beyond her athletic abilities, Bowen is known for her genuine nature and positive energy that uplifts her teammates.

The Wildcats, boasting a record of 25-6, recently won the Northwest Crossroads Conference title and are ranked 10th in the state coaches poll. As they prepare to face No. 7 New Palestine in the Class 3A state championship game at Purdue’s Bittinger Stadium, Bowen’s performance is noteworthy. She achieved a .371 batting average with six home runs, four triples, five doubles, 28 RBIs, 38 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases. Bowen’s three-run home run in the semifinal against East Noble underscored her contributions.

Coach Sam Antkiewicz praised Bowen, calling her a blessing for the team. Antkiewicz mentioned that Bowen fit seamlessly into the team, continuing the momentum built by former shortstop Sienna Antkiewicz. Bowen is driven to compete and achieve victory, and her presence strengthens the team’s spirit.

Bowen’s approach is strengthened by the support of her team. She feels encouraged and supported, which helps her perform confidently. Sienna Stilley emphasized Bowen’s influence on teammates, noting her motivational presence even on challenging days. Bowen’s willingness to seek improvement is also highlighted.

Bowen follows in the footsteps of her brothers, Drayk and Dylan. Drayk, a notable football and baseball player, made a name for himself at Notre Dame and Andrean High School. Dylan recently graduated, leaving behind a strong legacy at Hanover Central. Bowen embraces the sibling dynamic, using their achievements to motivate her own success.

With an eye on the future, Bowen aspires to compete at a high level. She desires to play for a top program in states like Texas, Florida, or Oklahoma. Stilley expressed confidence in Bowen’s potential, recognizing her drive and resilience in overcoming challenges. Bowen’s maturity and growth over the past months further highlight her promising future.

As a freshman, Bowen is eager to make a lasting impression in her first year with Hanover Central. New Palestine, a formidable opponent, boasts six state titles, with their most recent victory in 2019. Bowen finds excitement in the new experiences and camaraderie of the team as they head into the championship game. The Wildcats’ bond and determination keep spirits high as they pursue victory together.
