Jana Kramer, recognized as both an actress and a singer, has shared insights on overcoming tough times and finding happiness after difficult relationships. In a conversation with Fox News Digital, she explained how leaving “toxic” relationships contributed to her personal growth and rekindled her appreciation for new beginnings both in her personal life and on screen.
The country star’s experiences of heartbreak, divorce, and self-rebuilding offer lessons that resonate with the themes of her new Lifetime film, Where the Heart Lands. “Getting out of something really toxic… negative and bad helped me become a better person and a happier person… a lighter person,” Kramer revealed.
“Starting over can be one of the scariest things ever and one of the best things ever.” – Jana Kramer
Despite the pain associated with divorce, Kramer insists there is hope on the other side. She believes that too many individuals remain in harmful relationships, sapping their emotional well-being. “Holding on to negative and toxic relationships… drains you… then you begin to lose yourself, and that’s not the way to live,” she emphasized.
Kramer shares her two children, Jolie and Jace, with her former husband, Mike Caussin. They divorced in 2021 after revelations about Caussin’s infidelity. Kramer has been transparent about how her marriage’s difficulties would have continued if she had not chosen to leave.
Currently, Kramer has moved forward with former soccer player Allan Russell, with whom she shares a son, Roman. Her journey illustrates the transformative power of breaking free from negative relationships. Raising her three children, she credits these difficult experiences with enabling the creation of her desired life.
Her latest film project, Where the Heart Lands, unites audiences with these themes. The story follows an LA real estate agent who inherits a farm with racehorses in Kentucky. This unexpected windfall leads to love and a new perspective on life. Multitasking between scenes and horse country, Kramer drew parallels between her character’s perseverance and her own life stories.
The actress and her daughter share a fondness for horses, a passion that enriched her experiences during the film’s production. Being around recently competing racehorses offered Kramer an inspiring and educational behind-the-scenes look.
Kramer also discussed the therapeutic impact of horses, acknowledging their intelligence and healing capabilities, which explains the rise of equine therapy in health fields.
Besides Kramer, Where the Heart Lands stars John Schneider, Charlene Tilton, Alex Barone, and Jessica Szohr. Directed and produced by Haylie Duff, it is part of Lifetime’s “Love of a Lifetime” spring collection. The film is currently available for streaming on Lifetime.
