John Rich Open to Performing at Freedom 250 Celebration Amid Artist Withdrawals

3 weeks ago 0

Country musician John Rich has expressed willingness to perform at the upcoming Freedom 250 celebration. This development comes after several artists have withdrawn from the event.

Representative Tim Burchett has publicly suggested that President Donald Trump should involve Rich to lead the musical program. In a video message to Trump, Burchett stated that John Rich would be an excellent choice to kick off the event, highlighting Rich’s patriotic songs. Burchett also mentioned Kid Rock and Lee Greenwood as ideal additions to the lineup.

Rich responded positively to Burchett’s suggestion by posting on the social media platform X, saying, “Hey @timburchett don’t threaten ME with a good time! (Have guitar, will travel.)”

There have been several withdrawals from the Freedom 250 celebration, which is a part of a series of events mandated by one of Trump’s executive orders. These events are part of the 16-day “Great American State Fair” scheduled to start soon at the National Mall in Washington, DC. The celebration will include musical performances and themed installations commemorating the United States’ 250th anniversary.

Following Burchett’s remarks, Rich made another post on X, calling for Trump to reach out to him. He suggested that he could gather a group of patriotic musicians from Nashville and beyond to perform at the celebration. He added, “LET’S DO THIS,” emphasizing his eagerness to be part of the event.

In the face of uncertainties about the artist lineup, Trump has suggested that he might personally headline a rally in Washington, DC. Trump remarked on the withdrawals, attributing them to some performers getting “the yips” and criticizing what he termed as “highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists.’” He also floated the idea of replacing musical acts with “the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World,” referring to himself.
