Kai Trump surprised her followers with her recent choice for her ‘song of the year.’ In a YouTube and TikTok video, the 19-year-old granddaughter of President Donald Trump shared her decision. She explained that picking a song to ‘define your past year’ was challenging.
Reflecting on her choice, Kai mentioned, ‘I really did not know. I couldn’t think of a song at all. And I’m like, you know what? I just said ‘Rolling in the Deep’ by Adele.’ She expressed amusement at her decision, noting it was the only song that came to mind.
President Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai Trump revealed her surprising choice for her song of the year.
Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep,’ released in 2010 as the lead single from her second studio album ’21,’ marked a turning point in her career. This hit reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and maintained its position at the top for seven weeks. It also dominated charts in several countries and won three Grammy Awards in 2012, including record of the year, song of the year, and best short form music video.
The track played a pivotal role in catapulting Adele to global fame and remains one of her iconic songs, alongside ‘Someone Like You’ and ‘Hello.’ Kai Trump’s appreciation for ‘Rolling in the Deep’ is not new. During a Q&A session with fans on her YouTube channel in March, she cited it as a favorite song, along with ‘November Rain’ by Guns N’ Roses and several tracks by The Weeknd.
Kai has previously said that she ‘loves’ The Weeknd.
Kai frequently shares her personal likes, including her favorite foods, hobbies, and celebrities, through social media Q&As and interviews. In an interview with Fox News Digital, she disclosed a shift in her celebrity crush choice. Having previously admired ‘Outer Banks’ star Drew Starkey, she now favors Theo James. Kai remarked on James’s attractiveness, saying, ‘He’s very attractive.’
Two years ago, during a ‘Get to know me better…Q&A’ session, Kai had named Drew Starkey as her celebrity crush but noted how her preferences have evolved.
Kai, who frequently golfs with Trump, will compete on the University of Miami’s women’s golf team.
Kai also talked about the implications of having her grandfather in public office, describing how it complicates her dating life. She shared, ‘It’s not easy, to be honest with you, but, you know, you gotta live life.’
With her transition to college, Kai aims to maintain a semblance of normalcy. She is set to begin her freshman year at the University of Miami in the upcoming fall term, where she will actively participate in the Hurricanes women’s golf team during the 2026-27 season.
