Lainey Wilson and her husband, Duck Hodges, are adjusting to life as newlyweds, finishing each other’s sentences at public events. Their first major appearance as a married couple was at the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. Wilson was nominated for seven awards, marking a significant night for the pair.
During a red carpet interview with Fox News Digital, the couple shared thoughts on their recent wedding and new life together. “Getting to call you my husband,” Wilson said, reflecting on the emotional impact, while Hodges added, “I don’t think it’s sunk in yet.” The couple married just a week prior, embarking on a new chapter together.
Their chemistry was evident as they revisited moments from their Tennessee wedding.
Wilson shared that seeing herself fully dressed as a bride was unexpectedly emotional. Known for bell-bottoms and cowboy hats, she expressed: “Him seeing me in a dress for the first time,” highlighting the significance of the moment.
Held on May 10 at The Ruskin Cave in Dickson, Tennessee, their ceremony took place on a picturesque cobblestone ledge before a waterfall. This venue choice resulted from a casual drive through Tennessee backroads where they found and fell in love with the place.
The wedding mirrored Wilson’s Louisiana heritage, including a Cajun-style menu and a jazz band for a festive New Orleans-inspired celebration. Wilson donned a custom Oscar de la Renta gown adorned with Japanese cherry blossoms, symbolizing living in the moment.
Hodges embraced the Western look with a unique dark green suit complemented by a gold duck bolo tie and cowboy hat, reflecting their laid-back style. The couple also exchanged handwritten vows privately, cherishing a moment of intimacy.
Their first dance was to Muscadine Bloodline’s “10-90 (The Sound of Roses)” and concluded with a sparkler sendoff, departing in a white Ford truck.
Their relationship began in 2021 through a blind date arranged by mutual friends in Nashville. Four years later, Hodges proposed at George Jones’ former Tennessee estate, solidifying their bond.
Attending the ACM Awards, Wilson and Hodges celebrated their journey from their first public appearance together in 2023 to now as a married couple.
