Lethal Strike on Suspected Drug-Smuggling Vessel in Eastern Pacific

The U.S. military executed a deadly strike on a suspected drug-smuggling vessel in the Eastern Pacific on Wednesday. The operation, directed by the U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), resulted in the deaths of three individuals identified as ‘narco-terrorists.’ This announcement came from the Department of War following intelligence linking the vessel to drug trafficking activities.

The mission was part of ongoing efforts by the Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere to combat drug smuggling in the region. According to the Department of War, ‘Confirmed intelligence revealed the vessel’s active involvement in narco-trafficking; the operation killed three narco-terrorists.’

This strike is one of several recent U.S. military actions targeting suspected drug cartel vessels. Less than two weeks ago, the Pentagon released new images to Fox News Digital. These showed suspected drug boats, some appearing to carry large packages of narcotics.

The Pentagon, under Operation Southern Spear, has reportedly conducted 67 strikes to disrupt drug trafficking networks. Pentagon press secretary Kingsley Wilson emphasized the campaign’s determination: ‘If you traffic deadly illicit narcotics and threaten the American people, we will hunt you down, we will find you, and we will kill you.’

A notable strike on August 25 resulted in the killing of four suspected drug smugglers aboard a fast boat in the Caribbean. This operation, like others, was conducted under the leadership of Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere and General Francis L. Donovan.

President Donald Trump refers to the ongoing battle with cartels as an ‘armed conflict’ aimed at protecting U.S. communities from drugs and related overdoses. The administration is striving for cooperation with Latin American allies, potentially extending operations onto their territories.

In addition, Secretary Pete Hegseth mentioned that the U.S. reached agreements with nations like Colombia, Guatemala, and Honduras for joint operations against criminal groups. However, Guatemala has denied such an agreement. Meanwhile, Ecuador has already initiated similar operations since March.
